Dr. Sean S. Tjandra is an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon. He graduated from the University of Toronto with an Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Human Biology. Following this, he obtained his Master of Science degree in Cancer Biology from the Institute of Medical Science at the University of Toronto. He continued his training at the University of Toronto where he received his doctor of dental surgery degree and was the recipient of numerous awards including the Gordon Cressy Leadership Award and the Canadian Dental Association Presidents Award. He then completed a one year internship in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Mount Sinai Hospital and the Hospital for Sick Children. Dr. Tjandra subsequently returned to the University of Toronto where he completed his post-doctoral specialty training in oral and maxillofacial surgery and Master of Science degree investigating factors associated with skeletal relapse after orthognathic surgery. Dr. Tjandra is a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada.
Dr. Tjandra has extensive training in all facets of oral and maxillofacial surgery including wisdom teeth removal, bone grafting, dental implants, maxillofacial trauma and pathology, temporomandibular disorders and anaesthesia. He has a special interest in orthognathic surgery (corrective jaw surgery) to correct dentofacial deformities and aid in the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea. Dr. Tjandra is a staff surgeon at Hamilton Health Sciences which includes Hamilton General Hospital and McMaster Children’s Hospital. He is also the President of the Hamilton Academy of Dentistry and an ODA (Ontario Dental Association) Councillor representing the Hamilton Region.
Dr. Tjandra lives in Burlington with his wife Cristina. During his free time he enjoys swimming, golf and tennis as well as travel when time allows.
